SNLL 2020 Season Equipment Update

The Directors of the Stamford National Board have met several times (virtually) over the past month in order to prepare for the potential to have a Little League season for our kids.

Our focus is to provide the absolute safest possible environment for the children, coaches, and parents as we navigate through this unprecedented time. A comprehensive safety and risk mitigation plan, drawing on guidelines and recommendations from Federal, State, and local health officials, as well as best practices from Little Leagues in "opened" states, is currently being formulated.

While details are being finalized across a number of items, we can share the following with you regarding equipment only so that you as families can have time to prepare given what may be lengthened delivery times for certain gear.

  • Batting Helmets. Every player will use his or her own helmet for the entire season. Helmets will not be shared. As such, it is our overwhelming recommendation that players have their own helmet (complete with faceguard, if required by league level rules). If, for some reason, you are unable to obtain a helmet, please alert your assigned coach as well as myself and we will provide a season long "loaner" that will be returned and sanitized at year end. If a player comes to a game without his or her helmet, that player will not be allowed to bat during the game.
  • Catcher's Gear. Similarly, we highly recommend any players interested in catching have their own gear for the season. I will be furnishing each team as well with two sets of team gear that can be used during a game, with catchers for the game predetermined by the coach. That gear will be sanitized following the game as well.
  • Bats.  While we recommend each player have his or her own bat, it is not required. Following at bats using "team" bats, bats will be wiped with a clorox-type wipe and set aside for at least one batter.
  • Other recommendations.
    • Batting gloves provide another layer of protection and are recommended, but not required.
    • Pants, etc. Baseball pants are recommended but not required. In order to repurpose resources to other safety-related areas (no-contact thermometers, etc.) we will not be providing pants coupons- a change from prior years. We suggest parents purchase pants, belts, socks now given disruptions in sporting good supply chain.
    • Uniforms.  Players will still be receiving team hats and shirts.

To reiterate, our focus is on providing the safest possible playing environment for the Stamford National community. Equipment is one of several action items we are working on, and one we wanted to share so that you as families can best prepare for what can still be a great baseball season for our kids.

Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or comments.

Season Update - 5/21/2020

We continue to follow closely the guidances issued from The State of CT, The City of Stamford and Little League International.  At this time we do not have a specific date in which we can resume youth sports activities but based on the information we have been provided, we believe we could be given clearances to resume toward the end of June.

With that said, the Board of Directors has been meeting on a regular basis working on the details of how our league will operate once we are able to do so.  We are confident that once we are allowed to resume, we will be able to quickly get the kids back out on the baseball fields.

Our goal remains to be be able to provide a baseball season for our children as soon as we are able.

We look forward to seeing everyone is the very near future.  Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

As a proud supporter of Stamford National Little League for the past nine years, EST Baseball would like to continue to extend a discounted rate to its members. We appreciate the support we have received from the league, and would like to offer the discounted rate of $200 per session rather than the regular $225 if registered by May 1st. All of our usual discounts would still be applicable as well (sibling and/or multi-session discounts). For those of you that aren't familiar with our camps and clinics please visit our website, estbaseball.com, to view our information, testimonials, and browse camp pictures from our previous camps and clinics.

Camp sessions are: Session 1 - June 16-19, Session 2 - June 22-26, Session 3 - June 29 - July 3, Session 4 - July 6-10 and Session 5 - July 13-17 at Stamford High School from 9AM - noon. The cost for Session 1 is $180, as it begins on a Tuesday due to the last day of school being that Monday. Obviously the Session 1 start date is still dependant on any possible snow days. Sessions 2 - 5 are $225 per registrant, so it is definitely worth taking advantage of the SNLL discount by registering on or before May 1st. Sibling and multi-session discounts are also available. Daily drop-offs are still welcome ($45/day). Baseball players of all levels, ages 6-12 are welcome. All players receive popsicles, gum, sunflower seeds and baseball cards on Fridays.

EST Baseball takes pride in the fact that we make the effort during our camps and clinics to focus on skill development and helping to improve player performance. We understand that sometimes camp fees can add up, so hopefully our offer and incentives help some. During the camp day we focus on all aspects of the game while making it fun for the players so they enjoy themselves while having the opportunity to elevate their ability. We encourage you to visit our website to see past clinics, summer session pictures and parent testimonials.

Registration is completed online here at ESTBASEBALL.COM. Remember to register by May 1st to get the SNLL discount! No special code needed.... all registrants before May 1 will automatically have the discounted rate applied to their account.

Enjoy the start of your season, and we hope to see you over the summer!
