Summer Baseball Season Program Information

As we approach the conclusion of the regular season, Stamford National American Little League is pleased to offer players Little League ages 7-12 years, who are not selected to a district all-star team, the opportunity to continue playing baseball this summer. Summer baseball begins immediately after our Spring Season.  Stamford National American Little League (SNALL) offers a variety of summer programs for players ranging from ages 7 through 12 (Little League Age).

In the District 1 Friendship League Divisions typically are available for each age group.  SNALL's ability to field teams in various age groups is entirely dependent on volunteer participation.  These teams will be sanctioned only after the league has received commitment from volunteers to manage and coach these teams.  The Friendship League season runs from on or about the end of June through the end of July.

If you would like to manage or coach a team, please contact playeragent@stamfordnall.com ASAP.

Summer Travel District  “Travel B” Tournament

& Summer Friendship Teams

This league provides an opportunity for all players Little League ages 8 and up and not selected to our All Star Teams  to extend their baseball season into the summer. We assemble age based teams based on each year’s enrollment and play in a competitive tournament or games with similar teams from other Little Leagues in Connecticut District 1.

Teams in this program play AAA / Majors Style Baseball. Games are played with a hardball, players pitch all innings and base stealing / tagging up is allowed. The primary goals of Summer Travel B and Friendship Teams is to have a competitive team to play against other towns in Fairfield County, providing a suitable vehicle for team and individual skills development to prepare the players for future All Star baseball for ages 10-12.

Players are placed on a team based upon coach evaluation from spring programming. Age based teams will be created depending on the enrollment numbers and ages which can vary from year to year.

Children best recommended to play on  Summer Travel and Friendship Teams are the following:

  • Children who played Spring AAA or Majors Baseball and do not qualify for or do not get selected to the All Star Teams

  • Children who are 8 or 9 years old and made Triple A (AAA) through the evaluation process.

  • Children who are 8 years old who qualified to “play up” to AAA during the season as designated by their AA Manager.

  • Children who are 8 years old and feel they are ready for more competitive baseball, subject to league approval.

Sign-Up Option 2

Summer Double A (AA)

The Summer Double AA Program is for boys and girls 8- 10 years old who have played Double A baseball in the spring and are not quite ready to move up to AAA. The Summer Double A Program is our Little League's entry-level competitive baseball division where scores and team standings. Games will be played against teams from SNALL and Stamford North (SNLL).

As an entry-level Competitive House Division, the primary goal of Summer Double A Program Baseball is to create an instructional environment where players continue to develop skills, learn the rules of the game and execute in game time situations. Pitching consists of a mix of Machine Pitch and Player Pitch (with Coach Save)  to develop hitting and pitching skills.

Each team will play once or twice a week. Children best recommended to play in the Double A Summer Program are the following:

  • Children who played AA in the Spring and don’t feel ready for competitive AAA baseball rules.

  • Select children who are 9-11 years old but do not want to play competitive AAA / Majors type play during the summer.

  • Children who played Single A in the spring, and have the skill to play in Double A (can catch and throw).

Sign-Up Option 3

Summer Single A

The Summer Single A Program is for boys and girls 4-6 years old who have played Tee Ball or Single A baseball in the spring and are not quite ready to migrate to Double A. The Summer Single A Program is our Little League's entry-level baseball division in which players will learn the basics of catching/throwing/hitting while hitting coach pitch.

Each team will play once a week and have 1 practice. Children best recommended to play in the SingleA Summer Program are the following:

  • Children who played Tee-Ball in the Spring

  • Children who played Single A in the Spring and don’t feel ready for competitive Double A (AA) baseball rules.
